Hyper-V VM not starting

Kevy

I have a vm running win server 2008 and exchange 2007.
It starting becoming very slow and unresponsive so I tried to do a shutdown
to which is responded basically that it could not shutdown due to it not
responding.

I had no choice but to turn it off.

When trying to run the VM now, it says running, but all I see in the remote
connection screen is a black window.
It does not boot and I do not get any error message either.

I have 3 other vm's running without problems on the same host so it looks
limited to that vm.

I am pretty new to using Hyper-V so any troublshooting help would be much
appreciated.

Hi Kevy,

exchange (depends on size of DB) can be very IO intensive during boot times.
If this is a productive system you should never turn off the exchange VM,
which could lead to a data corruption.

What happens when you wait lets say ~ 30 min....
can u ping the VM ?
can u RDP the VM ?

What interesting events can you find related to the VM start ?

PS : AV running on your host ? If yes, exclusions for Hyper-V configured ?

Regards
Ramazan

Okay I managed to get it started after leaving it overnight.
I got the boot options as expected and booted windows normally.

There doesn't appear to be any problems with the OS.
