Installation of Windows Live Mail in WinXP SP3

A
#1
I have recently downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail in my daughter's
laptop with Vista on it. I found it a useful alternative to Outlook Expresss
that I have been using so far. I have made several attempts to install it on
my WinXP SP3 but I invariably get the error code 0x80070643. My question is
can Windows Live Mail be installed on WinXP? Grateful if some one could help.

Windows Live Mail works fine with XP SP3.
Did you install the last version (version 2009 14.0.8050.1202) ?

Thank you for the reply and the interest. I tried to download it by clicking
'Get it free' on the web site http://www.get.live.com/wlmail/overview. Since
it did not install, I never really got to know the version.

Once wlinstaller has been dowloaded, you choose that you want by checking
boxes.
Don't pay attention to the "beta" mention.

Thanks for Aski and CBoom.
I have tried to download from download.live.com but aborted because about
half way thru I got the feeling that this won't work offline for drafting
messages or reading incoming mail subsequent to downloading. As I indicated
in my question, I was looking for a better substitute for Outlook Express.
Can you please tell me from your experience whether it will work offline?
Regards,

Yes, it does work offline. It is basically just an enhanced version of
Outlook Express.

Why not? It is a proper advisory, which should be heeded by people who
aren't willing to "bug" issues in a beta release product.

TTBMK, the latest "release" version is still 12.0.1606.

I agree with you regarding the beta versions.
However, if you click on "About...". You can notice this mention beta does
not appear.

Aski,
It is not present there, most likely, so that code and related files don't have to be updated once the final version is released,
just the version number.

The lack of mention on that screen, does nothing to negate that our(yours and my) version of [14.0.8050.1202] is a *beta* version.

OK, thank's for that information.
Anyway, I think the 14.0.8050.1202 more reliable than the previous "beta".
