I would second Pat's recommendation. Foxit is a very handy pdf tool that has
a much smaller impact on the system than does Adobe acrobat.

The best one that I have come across is Open Office.... You can download it
@ http://openoffice.org

You not only can read PDF but you can also export word docs and pics to PDF
very easily.

Try Foxit reader. Free, and works like a charm. Faster than Acrobat, too.

Wow! That really is fast.

I'm having a problem with Acrobat reading pdf. web pages. Are you all saying it is not compatibile? I have it set up correctly in Acrobat, to fast-read in browsers, but nothing happens when I try a pdf web page. Will Foxit reader do all that acrobat does?

For me it does but much faster.

How do you read PDFs with OpenOffice? I've been using it since V1.0 and
never realised it could open PDFs. I just tried (with V2.2.0) and it
just shows the raw text from the file.

It does make exporting to PDF very easy though. Something MS have only
relatively recently caught on to ;o)

Get a copy of Foxit... http://www.foxitsoftware.com/pdf/rd_intro.php

It will do what you want much faster than Acrobat.

I've had a look at Foxit's web site having seen other posts about it
here, and it suggests it doesn't yet work with Mozilla (it's on their
"todo" list), so not much use to me as a replacement for Acrobat Reader.
One of my main gripes with Acrobat is that when I open a PDF from a web
site, Mozilla freezes while Acrobat loads (if it isn't already loaded).

I was just curious as to how to open PDFs in OpenOffice since I've never
managed to do it!

Hi,

In article <uwS8ytJkHHA.4596@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl>,
Mark@discussions.microsoft.com says...

As a workaround, you can right-click on the link to the PDF file, and
save the file on your desktop. Then open it from there.

Kind regards,
Mark Veldhuis.
