Printer Status Error using Vista Home Premium

Mike A.

When I want to print a page and click print, the screen opens where you
select number of copies, etc. In the middle left of this screen is "Status"
and immediately following status is the word "Error". I have one printer
directly connected to the computer and it is connected as the default
printer. But when I click print, nothing happens. How do I fix?

Uninstall and reinstall the printer.

I have the same problem.
Have tried to reinstall several times (using the guide the last time), but
it still doens´t work.
The printer works ok on our other PC with Vista 64 bit, but not on my laptop
with Vista home premium.
I tried to use another printer but still no result.

Since my printer has XP software and the computer has OS Vista is there a format that the word, excel, pdf in vista can be saved so that it will print on the printer that has XP software. (There is no vista software for the HP printer, and there never will be according to HP)

the print driver software formats the data.

Normally HP printers support PCL, if you can find a compatible Vista driver
for the device, that would be the option. If the printer only supports host
based printing (brains of the printer is in the software on the computer),
and the vendor no longer supports the product, then it's normally time for a
different printer.

It would be useful to know the model number for this HP printer.

well, after searching and searching I read an article that says try no using an usb hub. Hope I used the right words. We connected our printer directly to the desktop and the pdf and word files printer just fine.

Is there a special usb hub? that will handle the printing of pdf and word files?

The printer is HP 950xi all in one

thanks for your response
