Re: peter help me?

Hi,

I've been having a devil of a time attempting to update my Windows Live
installs by using the most recent release from http://get.live.com/. I've
been repeatedly getting the message:

"There was a problem with this installation. Windows Live Suite was not
installed.
System error details
Code: 0x80070643
Description: Fatal error during installation"

I saw your suggestions in this forum, and noted that on my machine, which
runs Windows XP SP2, there IS NOT a "C:\Documents and Settings\All
Users\Application Data\WLInstaller" folder. Any ideas why that might be? I'm
also noting that within the other two log folders, the logs date back to
August and haven't been modified since! I've downloaded and run the
WLInstaller.exe quite a few times since then!

I'm a tad concerned as although I first had a problem with the Windows Live
products, it now seems that other Microsoft and non-Microsoft products that
use the Windows Installer, now all have trouble installing. I suspect a
common problem now affects them all. I've tried (re)updating the Windows
Installer 3.1 (v2), to no avail.

Any ideas appreciated.

Thanks,

MS
