Replying with non-default account

Is there an option to reply to e-mail with the same account rather than the default account?

For example, gmail is my default account. However, if I reply to an e-mail sent to my Cox account Windows Live Mail chooses gmail as the "from" account. I have to manually select the Cox account as the "from" account. Is there a way to make WLM automatically set the "from" account to be the same as the "to" account when replying to e-mail?

TIA

It isn't a very helpful answer but the answer is, as near as I can tell, an
emphatic no. What you can TRY is to remove the outbound settings from the
one you don't want to use as default and see if that automagically does it
for you. You can *try* it but I have no clue if that will even work. (Save
the settings somewhere if you don't know them by heart or can't easily find
them in case it doesn't work.)

Yip. As I recall such was allowed per the usage rights/limitations.
(Assuming you mean the MVP logo on my site.)

Hmm... No one's complained about it in the past year or so. (I skipped the
2k7 season to do some travels and poke at new stuff.)

Afaik... the logo usage is year to year(renewable) expiring after a year from license agreement or end of status.

Meh... If they yell I'll remove it and find something witty for it. It has
been about a year and I actually get a lot of traffic from Microsoft users
themselves on the site and no one from Microsoft has worried about it so
far. Heck, even my old lead doesn't worry about it AFAIK. Then again there
are still a few MVPs who are members of the site so maybe that's why they
don't care.

Hi berserker,

This is a little out of left field ...

gmail has the very option that you are looking for.

if you elect to allow gmail to collect your other mail [settings - accounts FYI] you can select to use original account for reply

not sure how it would work with remote access via wlm, depends on how they have their SMTP set-up i guess, but who knows it may be an option worth looking at

I've got my setup to do this with some accounts so if you want to test things PM me and I'll give you a mail address to check what happens with my T Bird IMAP SET-UP. :)

It should be doing what you want. It should use the account that
Downloaded the message. That works fine for me.

Are you perhaps having Gmail fetch your COX mail and then it downloads
via Gmail? That would cause your problem.

Or if you moved the message out of WLM and then back into it, it would
lose track of the account that downloaded it.

You can use View, Columns to add the Account column to your folder and
see what account WLM thinks downloaded the message.

Bingo. Gmail is fetching my mail and then WLM downloads it via IMAP.

Thanks for the reply. I'll just have to manually choose my "from" account.
