Frustrated with Microsoft

#1
Anyone know how to do this? I have an old Windows 2000 Professional Notebook
PC and a new Windows Vista Home Premium hp Notebook PC. My internet
connection is through a Wireless router. I want to setup a wired LAN network
so the two PC's can see each other so I can transfer files from the old PC to
the new one. the transfer cables I've seen only work if your old PC is an XP
machine, and so I want to use the LAN to do the transfer.
