System Guard Alert When Using WL Toolbar

I use McAfee Security Center. About 2 weeks ago I noticed numerous System
Guard log entries indicating an unauthorized registry change to the IE web
browser. I set the Security Center to "alert" so that I could monitor what I
was doing when these registry changes occurred.

I discovered every time I initially opened my browser and/or used a WL
toolbar icon I received an alert. When I removed the toolbar all the alerts
stopped.

Since this recently started, I believe it was due to an update to WL toolbar
or the security center to monitor these changes. I am not sure. It is
strange these registry changes only occur with this particular toolbar.

I also contacted the McAfee forum and the moderator did not know either.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

I don't have a direct answer, but for many years now I have noticed
that third party security programs tend to develop incompatibilities
with different aspects of Windows. Often when there is a Windows
Update, or something else changes a Windows setting, a problem
develops, and it takes the third party developers quite a while to
issue a corrective fix. I prefer to remain hassle-free, so the only
third party security program I run is a low-key simple antivirus.
Security 'Suites' and 'Centers' are the worst in this regard.

Thank you for your reply. This is something I will definitely keep in mind.

I received my computer as a gift with 2 years subscription to McAfee.
Knowing very little about computers, I was grateful I did not have to worry
about malware and other attackers.

McAfee Security Center has keep my computer safe. Although the security
center has caused some problems, there are too many other good security
softwear for me to attempt to make another selection. For now it is easier
to deal with the inconvenience, until I learn more.

Have a Blessed day.

For future reference, Vista comes with its own Firewall, and
anti-malware (Defender). All you need to add is a simple antivirus.
