Unable To Send Mail

Messages

I have spent many hours, reviewed, and tried many fixes to no avail. I have tried Windows Live Mail and Windows Mail. I am unable to send from either. I am also unable to send from my SBC accounts. I am able to recieve, except from the SBC account. The error messages are all the same. I am quite sure I have the settings input correctly. I have upgraded from XP to Vista; this seems to be the only common thread. Help would be greatly appreciated. The following is an error message. thank you

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'd_arendt', Server: 'pop.att.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

The error message you included represents a receive error.
Please post your send error, which will include the words
"Protocol: SMTP".

The receive error message indicates correct settings, at least
as far as the receive parameters.

"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from an
antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus should be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus should be disabled, for reasons
explained here:

Re: entered wrong pop address how do I change it.

Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Change the POP3 server name as desired. Click OK.
