Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file.....

I can't open any files on my computer. I get the following message

"Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have
appropriate permissions to access the item."

Of course MSN Messenger works, which allows me to get to IE to add this
thread.

Clicking on the IE Icon or navigating to a file via windows explorer and
clicking on a file always comes up with this same error message.

Suggestions on how to solve this problem?

A Hacker with a bizzare sense of humor probably slipped something Hardware or
Software related onto your computer because it knows youre a programmer and
programmers have to run stuff by WHDC + MSDN , its probably hoping that you
wont notice that when you click on something on your computer you just sent a
copy of what youre doing to the above 2 Microsoft companys , their safety
inspectors. Anyone could use a CD etc. , when you would walk out the room
-even your own family for example - bizzare sense of humor etc. , try
contacting microsoft.com with Messenger , that's probably why thats the only
thing thats running , theyre trying to get you to notice to contact them ,
you Can use Libraries or anyone you know who has the Internet , or call
Microsoft on the phone , call any number , tell them you'll pay money if you
have to to get them to look into it , they'll probably find it

MSN Messenger works, which allows me to get to IE to add this.

Clicking on the IE Icon or a file via windows explorer
always comes up with this same error.

What kind of response is this from Microsoft? Do you have a solution other
than this?

I understand your problem you dont want to pay $60 for a Phone/E-Mail/Chat
and the idiot hangs up the phone on you or the Hacker plays that joke on you
again you dont have that kind of money . What you can do is buy a PERQ 3/QC
card , it comes in 2 types RAID + Internet {Ethernet , Wireless - PCI type
cards} , QC = Quality Control , it uses SSL 4 technology = TLS 1.0 = Total
Lockdown Security , if your PC has been tampered with theyll contact You and
ask you if they can look at your the Files on you PC and then fix it for
free, because you pay a yearly Service Fee .

as a temporary fix:
Right Click on the file, go to properties, general tab. It will probably
say "file has come from another computer and is being blocked". Click the
unblock button and you should be ok.

I am also looking for a more permanent solution. One blog indicates a
register hack but the key "ExecuteFromMappedDrive" does not exist for x64 bit
machines (running Windows 2003 R2)
