Is there a tip to make Windows Live Mail load faster? I would like for it
to be my default mail program in IE 7. Now, I have Office Outlook 2007 as
my default. It loads very fast. I have XP Home SP3.

Thank you,
David

Define Slow. How long is it taking to load?

How much RAM do you have? The more the better.

Tools | Options | Connection: "Connecting to Windows Live services", "Stop
signing in".

For me, WLM takes 7 seconds to start when signing in to the Windows Live
services, 4 seconds to start when not signing in.

So how long does it take to open WLM? Outlook 2007?

Mine can take several minutes to open. I do NOT use any of the other
distractions of Windows live, nor do I expect to have any desire ever
to.
It can also take a remarkably long time to actually close when so
instructed. On occasion requiring manual intervention. It seems also to
interfere extensively with other applications opening, Internet Explorer
will consistently fail to launch when WLMail is resident, which is more
than a tad boring when attempting to view an URL within a message.

I neglected to mention that I only allow WLM to synchronize a single account
when it open. Polling is set for once every 30 minutes (some people like a
10 minute polling cycle, but I find 30 minutes is sufficient).

Closing is quicker than opening.

WLM launches URLs just fine. Hmmm. Let me try another test ... took about 22
seconds to launch my default browser with a new tab for the URL in the
email. Default browser is Opera 9.64.
