Wondering which version of vista to use...

First of all, I apologize if this is an innapropiate post or in the wrong area, but I looked and did not find any rules stating that this is; and I just want to thank you in advance for any help you are willing to give. Here are my system specs:

Penitum D @ 3.00 GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
2 GeForce 7900 GTX's running in SLI
NVida Stipe HDD @ 300GB
Creavtive Lab's X-Fi Sound Card

(It's a Dell XPS 600)

My question is, should I purchase the 32bit edition of Windows Home Primuin, or the 64 bit? From the reading that I have done, it seems like my RAM may not be quite up to snuff. If it makes any difference, I mostly use this machine for gaming (WoW, Command and Conquer 3, Company of Heroes, F.E.A.R., all the leatest and greatest games). Any advice that you would be willing to give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi JohnQPublic,

It depends. 64-bit can handle more RAM, while 32-bit has more compatible drivers. Check and see if all your devices have 64-bit Vista drivers for them including the BIOS or Motherboard Chipset. If you are a gamer, then I suppose more RAM and a good Video card will be your thing. Check this link out for all the differences on 32 VS 64 bit at Microsoft.

I use the 64bit and I haven't had any problems with it yet. Of course, all my drivers are 64-bit compatible.

Hope this helps,
Shawn
