NVCache & ReadyBoost - Disk cleanup is Anoying...

So on my ThinkPad T61 It has a 160GB HD with the 512Meg of Cache. Some how
when I Uses Rescue and Recovery the NVCache Volume is Visible. On it it has
    the Readyboost file.

Any ever since it started showing up I get the Disk Cleanup balloon telling
me that I have no space left on the Drive.

Is the VNCache volume supposed to be Visible? If no, how do I remove it?
If it is, how can I tell Disk Cleanup to Ignore it?

    Thanks,
    Scott<-

    Dear Scott,

    Thank you for your post.

According to your description, my understanding is that:

You have one Lenovo ThinkPad T61 laptop with Intel Turbo Memory drive
installed. The NV Cache Volume on your laptop is used for ReadyBoost. You
now get the warning message saying that the NV Cache Volume is full.

If there is any misunderstanding, please let me know.

    Analysis & Suggestions:
    ==============================

Windows ReadyBoost can use storage space on some removable media devices,
such as USB flash drives, to speed up your computer.

After some research, I find the information that Intel Turbo Memory
technology driver creates a new 512MB storage with the label name 'NVCACHE'
to enable ReadyBoost technology. This NV Cache Volume is not visible in
Computer ' s hard disk drives list. You could see it in Disk Management
    console.

I recommend you try to change the space to reserve for ReadyBoost first.

    Please do as follows:

    1. Open Computer Management Console.

    2. Click Disk Management in the left snap-in.

    3. You will see the NV Cache Volume, right click this Volume and click
    Properties.

    4. Select the ReadyBoost tab and change the ' Space to reserve for system
speed' option to some value smaller than 450MB.

After that, please check whether the situation will improve.

Please note: This suggestion might not work due to third-party hardware
drive issue. If you could' t change the space to reserve for ReadyBoost on
NV Cache Volume, I recommend you contact to Lenovo directly. Please
understand that I don't intend to bounce you between different support
services. The hardware manufacturers should be the best support resources
    for this kind of issue.

Your understanding are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Thank you for your reply.
The ReadyBoost cache size was set to 490, I changed it to 450.

It is still listed as F: Drive. Should I remove the Drive Letter?

    Thank you,

    Dear Scott,

    Thank you for your reply.

After changing the ReadyBoost cache size to 450MB, do you still get the
warning message saying that the NVCache Volume is full?

If yes, I recommend you to disable the ReadyBoost in Intel Turbo Memory
Console. After reboot, the NVCache Volume will be removed.

The following is a related post for your reference:
    http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/...9460&SiteID=17

Also, I think either keeping or removing the drive letter should be fine.
If the warning message does NOT appear again, based on my experience, I
would like to suggest that we do not change it.

You can also contact Lenovo support first to confirm how the Turbo Memory
is used in their OEM Operating System, and what their suggestions are on
    the driver letter issue.

By the way, I'd like to include some related information about Intel Turbo
Memory which might be helpful to you:

    @Jian-Ping Zhu

I also experienced the same problem but i can't adjust the size of NVCACHE used by the readyboost from the disk management console, so i tried to turn off the readyboost via Intel turbo memory. It works, but the NVCACHE dissapear, so where does the nvcache go? what's the function of NVCACHE anyway?
