Windows Live SkyDrive to quintuple storage again to 25GB

Following the last quintupling of storage from 1GB to 5GB in February and a few features added in May, Microsoft is planning to do it again in the next few weeks when it updates Windows Live SkyDrive. In addition to updating the service to the new Wave 3 look, the company will make it available in more countries and regions: Arabia, China, Hong Kong, Israel, South Africa, and Vietnam, as well as 13 new languages: Basque, Catalan, Guajarati, Hindi, Indonesian, Kannada, Malay, Malayalam, Marathi, Serbian-Cyrillic, Tamil, Telugu, and Vietnamese.

Saw the announcement. I think its amazing and wonder how theyre managing it.

I recently closed my paid hoster account and will probably use this for storage now.

Hi Steven,
Thanks for the info,
I often need to save bits of client's setups before doing things :geek:, and a USB drive isn't always available, as it's not my data I have to have security. Data Protection and such. :)

What's your internet download/upload rate? xD, i cant compare this with a pendrive, in the first one it would take hours to upload a GB while in my pendrive just a few minutes xD, so 5/25GB are completely useless for me.

Its secure ;)

Well, you can always forget to log off on a computer and then someone happens to stumble upon it. Anyway I would read the agreement just to make sure you can sue Microsoft if anything happens. ;)

But to be safe, I would suggest you encrypt it by password zip files and then upload it...if it's really sensitive.

My Computer

It says something about using Windows Live Photo Gallery to UL photos. But when I did it, it put it into a Windows Live Space photo album or something.

It doesn't put it into that Documents, Favorites, Photos, Videos place. Is it supposed to to share the 25GB there? Or is it sharing it in background without showing you even though it's not visible in the SkyDrive.

My Computer

SkyDrive hasn't been updated yet to the Wave 3 (25GB) version. The article merely talks about what the team is promising to do in December.

Tempting. Sounds like i will be quitting megaupload soon. :)

Hi steven,

All that space is good :D and the look and feel is good too

One thing I've noticed though is that the themes on the live site are not available in My Space, I do like consistency - I have a nice dark theme on my spaces but can't get a similar one on the main site :( - Just me being picky as usual :D
