PC Freezing and ctrl alt del not working, etc........
I have Vista on Inspiron 530 desktop. The PC is OK for about an hour then
internet gets very slow, finally freezing. When I press ctrl alt del I get
message "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog" and
below this "Failure - security options" . The only way out of this is to turn
off the electricity to the pc.
Even if I don't get this error, I am seldom able to "shut down" the
computer. I sometimes get the "logging off" message which changes to
"shutting down" but even after waiting ages, it does not usually shut down so
I just have to switch it off.
I have scanned thoroughly for viruses but have not found any and have virus
and firewall programs running at all times.
Re: PC Freezing and ctrl alt del not working, etc........
More than likely this happens because you have a non-Vista compatible
security suite installed. Have you installed some kind of
firewall/antivirus/whatever suite? If so, which?

Re: PC Freezing and ctrl alt del not working, etc........
I have now solved the problem by reformating the disk to ex-factory condition
(after saving files I wanted, of course). This was drastic but very glad I
did it. I think my problems arose because I imported files and settings from
my old computer and probably introduced the problem to my new computer. In
taking the easy option, as I thought at the time, I imported many things that
I didn't really need any more. Hope you sort your problem soon, I know how
frustrating it is.

Re: PC Freezing and ctrl alt del not working, etc........
Thanks for responding. My computer was a new vista machine to which no
setting were transferred. It worked fine for nearly a year. Now it's
basically useless. Programs simply will not load, a different one on a daily
basis.
