Hi,

There are a number of ways to find out what version (if any) of SP1 you currently have installed.

1) Winver. Click the start orb and type 'winver' into the search box and press enter/return. A dialogue box will appear like the one below. This shows that the final version of SP1 has been installed on my machine, so check to see if your dialogue is different.

2) System Information. Click the start orb and type 'System Information' into the search box and press enter/return. On the 'System Summary' page, check the following information next to 'version' (see below).

3) The third method only applies if you have set the setting in the registry to show the version on the desktop. This appears on the desktop, directly above the system tray in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. If you have, then this is what you will have for the final version of SP1.

If you have a beta version of SP1, follow the instructions on the following webpage in order to remove it.

Windows Vista Service Pack 1 - Things to Know Before You Download

You may now download and install the final version of SP1. I recommend that you download the 5-language standalone version. As a bonus, both the 32-bit version of SP1 and the SP1 for Office 2007 can fit on one standard 700MB CD, so I provide links for both service packs. If you have them on a CD, you can install them from there should you need to reinstall Vista at any point.

Finally, your question about speech recognition software. I have managed to locate the following site. Hopefully, this is the sort of thing that you are looking for. Please note that I haven't tried this program out myself, but it would be useful for other people wanting this type of program if you could provide some feedback on it, its pros and cons, should you choose to try it.

Hope this helps.
