Rec'd notification of an important update for MS Silverlight, but it won't install. Gives me error code 663, or 0000663. Can't find any info on this. Help!

I wouldn't worry too much if you can't install SilverLight on your PC.
As long as you've got the latest version of Adobe Flash Player that's all you really need.

Thanks! I have deleted it, and don't notice anything different, although I keep getting notified of the update.

Yeah Kentucky. there's about four different versions of SilverLight that Windows Update notify everyone about, but just right-click on each one as they appear and use the option that you want to hide the update. After you get to about the fourth version of SilverLight and have opted to hide them all from appearing ever again through Windows / Microsoft Update, they will no longer annoy you.
