Error Code 80240043

PC can identify the updates that are required but then cannot do anything with them as this code appears. I have searched Microsoft & Google but no joy. Please help as installing them on their own is taking ages!:confused:

Try install update from Microsoft Download Center http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx
not from Windows Update

If still no result:

1.Uninstall all security software which you have: non-system firewall,antivirus,antispyware
2.Run cmd.exe with administrative previlliges (right click on cmd.exe) as admin and type:

sfc /scannow

When it finish type in cmd.exe

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >%userprofile%\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt

on your desktop appear sfcdetails.txt

3.Try reregister WU How do I reset Windows Update components?
4.Run Readiness Tool Description of the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista, for Windows Server 2008, and for Windows 7
This tool even don't help create CheckSur.log file in C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log


5.Download firegenul Altair Technologies Ltd.
place firegenul.exe in C:\Windows\System32

next again run cmd.exe with admin previlliges and type:

firegenul

it creates report from WindowsUpdate.log and is stored in C:\Windows\System32 as FireGenReport.htm

FireGenReport.htm,CheckSur.log and sfcdetails.txt pack and attache to post

I was able to get as far as step two Favius posted and the cmd says"FINDSTR: Cannot open Wood\Desktop\sfcdetails.txt" My system did say it found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them - Details are in the cbs.log

So you can upload the whole CBS.log -pack it before -if it will be to big too attache upload it on RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

I checked CBS.log and generated sfcdetails.txt.Your scdetails.txt file is OK this means systems files are OK

but you have many corruption in CBS key /C:\Windows\WinSxS /or in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages

Strange.Readiness Tool inform only about one error in components.Maybe it doesn't show at once all errors - I had something in another thread :shock: ,we'll see

I attached to post almost all request by CheckSur files,download them and unpack anywhere

1.Navigate to C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages,takeownership of this folder and add your account to have full control
2.Copy my files to this folder -if you have already any file then replace it.
3.Remove your account from permissions to Packages folder
4.Restore ownership of Packages folder back to "NT Service\TrustedInstaller"

if still WU will not work remove CheckSur.log from C:\Windows\Logs\CBS and again run Readiness Tool and attache the new CheckSur.log.We'll contunue procedure untill Readiness Tool stop report any errors.

I tried the WU with no luck. Still showing the same error code 80240043 after restart. I can get some of the updates showing when I turn the computer off. I just received 3 install's of "help" for office but not the "Office suite service pack 2"??

As you can see Readiness Tool report you don't have any problems with components now but of course it is not always equivalent solving all issues with WU.Do you have still trouble with WU or not?Even yes WU can change error code now...

OK.Not for all packages are CBS keys -it is normal I've just checked now.Suppose Readiness Tool mistake and you still have corrupted files in C:\Windows\Servicing\Packages as say CBS.log.I filtered the whole log and tomorrow I'll attache all files to replace which CBS.log report.There are many -attached file.I think only corruptions are in Packages folder not in CBS key otherwise CBS.log report them too (I checked in google)

download them and unpack anywhere
