I've tried pressing DEL, F11, F12, F8 but to no avail
i've tried resetting the cmos but same as above,
also tried vista recovery CD but nothing and wont boot,
it just stays on the same screen, with the red light constant on the front of my pc?
i've tried explaining the best i can anyone have any ideas?

Put a vista dvd in the tray and press setup. at some point it will give you an option to repair, restore or boot normally

Do you have a backup you can restore from?

I don't think you're getting past the post, which has nothing to do with the operating system. Did you flash the bios?

Replug in your keyboard.

For further diagnostics...

remove all PCI cards except video
remove hard drive and dvd connections

see if you can get to bios.

if that doesn't work, pull memory

i think my gf interrupted the update & im using a usb wireless keyboard
but have tried other keyboards, i haven't tried re-flashing the bios as
my system doesn't have a floppy drive but am buying one tomorrow
do you think that when interrupted it was flashing the bios as thats the
only thing that i haven't tried?

If flashing the bios was interrupted, then that could be the cause.

k so how would i go about re-flashing the PhoenixBIOS?
download the bios update stick it on floppy & plug it in then
start system? as i cant get the cdrom to do it?

Unless you can boot off a usb drive... Let us know how that goes. Good luck!

i haven't tried but i have tried cdrom with disconnecting the hdd too
to try and force it to boot from cdrom but nothing, but would floppy or
usb be more succesful without changing the boot order as i can't do that?

My Computer

Oh wait - you're right. How can you boot off anything else when you need to specify that in the bios. And you can access your bios! BUT, if you pull the hard drive cable, it might default to the floppy (maybe). Sheesh! Or it it's totally hosed, you might have to buy a new bios.

it is posting , its either hanging on the CPU check or the memory check that comes next (thats why i asked if there was a beep code)

take out one stick of ram , try again , if it fails swap ram and try the other stick

tried that but no luck, i think the only 2 options i have are,
trying the floppy option to re-flash the bios
or to buy or new bios chip altogether,
i need a PLCC-Socket Bios chip
where would i get one from for my geforce6100sm motherboard?
