Strange Download Issues

I have a very strange problem I hope someone can help with. When i go to do downloads about 50% of the time the download will scream along just fine and suddenly stop. Usually around the 80% mark, it just stops.

If a use a browser other than IE7 the download is fine, if I use a download manager the download is fine. However using IE7 the download stops dead and eventually times out.

Does anyone have an idea on what this is or how to fix it?

On a side note can someone suggest a good download manager for Vista 64 that is very transparent. I hate having extra software running.

I read where others have experienced similar issues, but no solid solution has been found. Things that have been suggested:

1. Making sure you have the latest updates from Microsoft for IE
2. If IE becomes unstable, you can use the reset feature under the advanced tab

Let us know if you find a solution for this issue.
