using microsoft word as email editor

I just started using microsoft mail for my emails. I used to use outlook and microsoft word would automatically correct spelling and capitalization errors as I typed. This does not seem to be happening now. I searched and it seems like microsoft mail is not using word to edit my emails. Does anyone know how to turn it on? If you cannot is there a way to have my emails automatically correct spelling and capitalizations? thanks for any help.

gary,
thanks for the response. I used to use outlook and when typing a email it would automatically change misspelled words as I typed them. It would also automatically capitalize words at the beginning of sentences for me. I thought that microsoft word was perhaps doing this for me. I want to know if it is possible to turn on this feature again. I did figure out how to have it check before it sends a email off, but I liked the automatic feature. thanks again, blake

Hello Blake,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm guessing you mean Windows Mail. Here is a tutorial on spell check: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/82044-windows-mail-always-check-spelling.html

If you just want to turn on spell check, Tools/options/spelling tab. It will check spelling when you hit the send button.

Hope this helps.

Hi Blakejnd,

You might consider using Windows Live Mail (WLM) instead. In addition to it having a on the fly spell checking, it supports Pop3, IMAP, HTTP website (EX: Hotmail) email, and is a lot more stable. Plus, WLM will minimize to a tray bar icon, checks spelling as you type messages, and has a separate Inbox for each email account. WLM will automatically import Windows Mail messages, accounts, and settings into it. Contacts will have to be manually imported from within WLM. (Tools, Contacts, File, Import, Address book for current Windows User.) To see the Menu bar, press ALT+M and check "Show all menus".
