Do you want to move or copy files from this zone?

Hi,

I'm experiencing a problem that I cannot solve even though some people have proposed solutions to it.
When I try to copy files from my NAS (Synology DS207+) to my hard drive over the network, this is what I have to answer to first:

dialogue.jpg

I've tried all the suggested solutions by changing the intranet settings in internet options, done some registry hacks, but I can't get rid of this dialogue.

I'm running Vista Ultimate SP1 X64 and I'm beginning to believe that the issue has come after SP1.

Anyone? Help is really appreciated, 'cause I'm going mad!

Hi swedan,

Open Control Panel -> Internet Options.
Open Security-tab; mark the zone "Local intranet", press the "Sites" button,
UN-tick "Automatically detect intranet network",THEN
tick "Include all local (intranet) sites not listed in other zones" and
tick "Include all network paths (UNCs)".

Hi,
I've tried all the suggested solutions by changing the intranet settings in internet options, done some registry hacks, but I can't get rid of this dialogue.

So as I stated I have tried that, with no luck what so ever.

If i don't mount the shares there's no problem. I.e. if I just browse to \\server\share and copy files from it it's a-ok. But as soon as I map/mount the \\server\share to for example Y:, the dialog starts showing when I copy files.

So I have no solution at all, and this is really annoying me since I often copy files from the shares.

Anyone, please!

I've done it via Internet Options in the Control Panel, without Internet Explorer open. I've restarted my computer and I've tried this different times on my computer where I did re-install Vista Ultimate X64 between the attempts.

I've also gone through all the settings in Internet Options and changed all the settings from "prompt" to "enable" where I could find it.

So I'm really out in the dark here...

OK, let's try something else:

Internet options/security tab/local intranet/custum level

Then scroll up to Download and enable file download
then a bit under, enable Drag-and-drop or copy and paste files option

If does not work, enable Drag-and-drop or copy and paste files option in the internet section but don't enable downloads!!!!

Still no luck when trying your suggestions. I've also tried to copy files from a mapped share on my laptop with the same installation of Vista X64 Ultimate, but on the laptop this dialog is not shown... Man this is getting annoying...

I am also having this exact problem! So annoying!! It started recently I think because when I first loaded Vista I don't remember having this issue. It happens when I download a file (ZIP file) and then try to drag/drop files from inside that ZIP out to my desktop. I have fiddled with the Security settings in Internet Options control panel with no success. I am using Vista Ultimate SP1 (32bit) also.

Please help!!

I had the same issue when trying to copy files over the network. What I did was the following:

The standard goto
Internet Options > Security > Local Intranet > Sites

-Untick Auto and Tick the other stuff
-Inside Local Intranet the is a button advanced
-In advanced I added my network range:
-I typed this exactly (192.168.*.*) and then added it (Without Brackets of course)
- Closed everything

That seems to have fixed it.

If your network range is different obviously the ip you enter there wil be different.
I have yet to try it on XP SP3 but on Vista Ult x64 it worked ... for me

Let me know if it works for you...

well my local (nat) network is 172.31.255.x and I followed the steps you provided. It didn't work for me, at least not on Vista 32-bit. I did not reboot yet. I will check and see if that works but I am pretty sure it doesn't make a difference. So I am still scratching my head and wondering how to fix this useless and annoying problem!

Well, going a bit deeper, the only reason i can see for this confirmation window to popup is that the user and machine configuration for the computer and/or intranet are different and for some reason only the machine configuration is taken in account.

So, to be sure of what is said above, can you tell what is the registry value of the following keys:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap (values of the keys in zonemap ?)
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap (values of the keys in zonemap ?)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 Value of Key 1802?
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 Value of Key 1802?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1 Value of Key 1802?
HKEY_LOCAL_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1 Value of Key 1802?

My Computer

Thank you Sid,
here are the values I have:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap:
AutoDetect=1
UNCAsIntranet=0

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap:
AutoDetect=0
UNCAsInternet=1
IntranetName=1
ProxyBypass=1

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 Value of Key 1802 = 0

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0 Value of Key 1802 = 0

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1 Value of Key 1802 = 0

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\1 Value of Key 1802 = 0

What I noticed when I did a search through the registry is that also there is a set of keys called "Lockdown_Zones" which contains another similar set of values. I checked those and found that for 1802, they were all 0 as well.

My Computer

Well, go to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap

Set AutoDetect to 1

Is there any change?
