windows mail auto address complete

When creating a "new message" you place the curser in the "to" box and as soon as you start typing a letter of an email address you have used - it "automatically gives you options of all email addresses that start with that letter (that you have used) and you click on the one you want.

I want to disable that feature and delete those addresses that I can click on. How do I do that?

Hi Dalton,

Welcome to the forums.

In WM, click Tools/options. Click on the send tab and uncheck 'automatically complete...' That should do it.

Hope that's what your looking for.

Is there a way that I can delete that address from showing up when I turn on auto complete? I have deleted it from my contacts and from the recycle bin. I have no idea how it got into my contacts or in the autocomplete addresses because I have never sent anything to such an email address.

I believe that these entries are kept in the registry. Unfortunately there is no easy way to edit them. They are in secret (binary) code ;-) Auto complete only keeps the last 29 addresses you send email to, so it will disappear when you have sent to 29 others. The address can get on the list by hitting the reply button on an email. Even if you delete the message afterwards and don't send it, the address is already on the list. On the same tab as I mentioned above, is a box for 'automatically put people I reply to in contacts'. That is my only guess as to how it might have gotten there.
