Clearing Google Browsing History

Hello all,
New here so this could have been addressed already. I have high speed from cox.
I have two computers in the house. One has XP Home and the other Vista Home. On the XP, I can delete browsing history for all engines including Google (the drop down 'Clear Histoy' tab). With Vista, when I use internet options to delete, it works just like XP, except for Google. The other day, my 10 year old was using Google on the Vista OS and typed in just two letters - h o (looking for horses) and up poped a whole list of topics including 'hot' as a lead word. off she went searching and was shocked. is there a simple way to clear google drop down browsing history?

Hi Steve,

Not something I've noticed myself but there are some things you can do.

Firstly, I'm making some assumptions:
We are talking about IE7 and not firefox etc? and you are using the "Tools">"Delete Browsing History..." menu and using the "Delete All..." button to achieve this and that you have ticked the "Also delete files and settings stored by add-ons." checkbox. You are running the latest version of Google Toolbar?

As a general rule I would strongly recommend creating a windows user login for each family member, this makes life easier in so many ways and completely removes the necessity to clear history data such as you have mentioned. If this is not possible for some reason then I would suggest disabling the history for Google toolbar until a fix is released (you could check the google forums for information), this is done in "Toolbar Options">"Features">"Search Box Settings" and un-tick "Suggest Popular Searches" and "Suggest searches from my search history"

Failing all of that there is a shortcut to clear the google search history: type a letter or two in the toolbar search box and a link will appear at the bottom called "Clear History" click that and you're there.

Hope that helps.

thanks, I do have IE7. use the Delete BH menu and delete history and temp (i do not delete passwords, so i never click Delete All). In Vista, the Tools>Delete Browsing History> does not have a Checkbox that I can see. I believe I am running the latest Google Toolbar. I could not locate "Toolbar Options">"Features">"Search Box Settings" and un-tick "Suggest Popular Searches" and "Suggest searches from my search history". And in Google XP there is the Clear History link, but not on my Vista OS. I will take the advice to set up seperate accounts. thanks. Steve

My Computer

Hi Steve,

Not sure if this has been resolved but here's how I did it to solve my problem:

----Go to Toolbar Options (wrench icon)
----Disable/uncheck "Store search history on my computer"

Thank you.
