How new is it wildman? Like today? I'm assuming so since you just posted this. I'm not so pleased with the firefox I have and i've been using Firefox for years. I figure it's just me and my lack of VISTA experience, but I have had no love with add ons on this current version. Guess I'll try the new one, if it's newer than what I have. I have firefox set to auto update.........

Mozilla Firefox 3 Release Candidate Release Notes

The release candidate will not be downloaded through auto update; you have to download and install it manually.

A caution: If you install RC1 using your existing Firefox profile, you will not be able to revert to using FF 2.x with that profile, due to major changes between FF 2 and FF 3.

I been using Gran Paradiso since Alpha 3, and I can tell you this - it has changed a lot, and it is a *lot* faster than previous versions of Fx.

As it gets closer and closer to release time, more and more extensions are being fixed for compatibility with Fx 3. I have since dumped my Fx 2 (Bon Echo) profile for my Fx 3 only profile.

When I say fast - it loads faster than IE and Opera. It renders faster than both. It simply blows most competition out of the water.

it is a lot more stable. And it is a lot more functional.

Since RC 1 has been released, 10 major bugs and 4 minor ones have been reported. On the 27th Mozilla will decide if they take an additional step to RC 2 or release Fx 3 final, and catch those bugs in Fx 3.0.1.

However I know you lose Flash and stuff like that because they are not x64 compatible, and I *think* you can't use any Add-ons then either. Can anyone confirm the later?

Yeah you loose flash (for now (but you can use ff2 or IE for those times when you need to), but there are a growing number of addons that now work with it. Ive added most of my regular set of addons.

FF3 should be released in June. They dont normally wait for plugin devs to catch up.

I've been using Firefox 3 for over a week now...it's really nice.

Luckily, the plugins I had installed on Firefox 2 carried themselves over into Firefox 3....there were even updates that FF itself asked to do (in regards to the plugins) so i'm quite pleased....

...that makes me wonder, though....cause on a fresh install of Firefox 3, I can't actually install these plugins (it gives an error of the plugin being incompatible)...so I wonder why it carried over.
