Hosts File Not Blocking a Website

Hi,

I have altered my hosts file on both an XP and Vista computer. The XP computer correctly blocks the unwanted websites ("Page cannot be displayed") but the same exact hosts file on the vista computer shows the sites.

What is going on here?

Hi Lrichar3,

Can you upload the hosts file or paste the code your entering for us to check? Some site might also have multiple IPs and Domain addresses...

Assuming, also, that you have made sure you have blocked all domains (both WWW.and just the domain) make sure you have rebooted after making the change....

I tried that, and it wasn't working. (see post below for the exact host file text copied in.)

It might not be the source of popups. They usually are hosted from another site. You need to return the source code and track them down that way.

I'm not getting pop-ups, I just want to block this one website from showing up in any browser, pop-up or otherwise.

I need to prevent another user on the computer from accessing the site.

It appears to be working now, I guess all I needed was a restart.
