i cannot open file attachments of incoming emails, the ones with a paperclip. i can open items in body of email text. my word, excel and powerpoint work fine. i contacted hewlet packard, no help. i contact yahoo chat no help. i have tried restart, tools internet options advanced resets, no help.

Are you able to save the attachments to the desktop and open them from there?

- Click on Tools and Options.
- Click on the Security tab.
- Uncheck the Do not allow attachments ..... box
- Uncheck the Block images and other ...... box
- Click on OK.

I was under the impression that yahoo mail would not work with windows mail. Have you tried right clicking, save file as?

hi jeremy, yes yahoo works with windows. i just don't activate windows email. i have yahoo.com as my default internet server and then when open i open mail. when i click on file descrip from the email with attachment i get the error message. i even had microsoft tell me today that software doesn't allow me to open paperclip files. that is nonesense i have been doing it for a very long time. really frustrated now.

For internet mail, you will sometimes need to save the file to your desktop first before you can open it.

hi brink, my trend anti virus was the root cause of the problem. i deleted the program and installed the one you suggested. ran a scan and got rid of adware spyware. i can now successfully download attachment files from my yahoo email. i really want to thank you for staying with me and offering the only really productive assistance i received.
