I’m currently running Windows Vista Ultima 32bit on a Dell Inspiron D530. My problem is I can’t access certain websites i.e. www.linkedin.com the browser will search forever and not find the site or if it does find the site, usually after 15-20min it doesn’t display the page correctly. I don’t think it’s a browser issue (Internet Explorer), the same problem occurs on Safari as well. I have gone thru all the IE7’s and firewall settings, including the virus detector (Trend Micro) nothing seems to work. I’ve contacted my internet provider (Verizon) and Microsoft to no avail… no one seems to understand why I’m having this issue. I also have two laptops running XP and I don’t have this issue on the laptops Also, if I ping the website it seems to send and receive packets correctly. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Hello Airbot,
No, I have not tried the diagnose and repair option in the network and sharing center.
I have used a number of malware scanners including Spy Sweeper, CCleaner Karen's power tools to search for copies of cookies and a number of other programs.
So far nothing has helped.
Thanks for the Info
Some good free ones are A Squared free, Malwarebytes, spybot-SD.
It might be some add-ons or browser helper objects or maybe you have all cookies blocked or set at a high level. Some sites will not load if you block their cookies.
Hi Airbot,
MS Tech worked on the issue once again... no results yet.
Some of the techs run a few different malware scanners, there were not able to find anything as well.
