Windows Contact goes to User/Contacts folder...

First, thanks for any help given. I help out at other places, and I know how tiresome it can be when people keep asking the same silly questions again and again.

However, I have looked through previous threads, but there are sooo many to go through and still have not found anything that looks like my problem. So I started a new thread. (If this has been dealt with before, you have my deepest apologies!).

I recently tried to use Windows Contact (directly from the link that is created by Vista Premium). It used to work - I am not sure how long ago since I last used it maybe 6 months? I don't know, but now it no longer works. It takes me to my User/Contacts folder.

I have enclosed some pictures of what it looks like.

What other info to provide. Hmmm fully updated. Vista Home Premium, KIS 2008, Windows Defender.

Things I have done: I tried associating the folder with Contacts (Customise this folder etc etc.) because I remember doing the change, so that all folders are treated like ordinary folders so that way I can set them all to stay exactly the same. That had no effect though. I am at a bit of a loss...and although its not critical, it would be nice to know.

Applications that I have installed that I think may have caused problems:

Windows Live Mail. Windows live Messenger 8.5. (Windows Mail is still installed).

Not sure if one of those programs hijacked it or something else. Any help would be most gratefully recieved. If you need any more information, please say so.

Many thanks.

Weasel.

P.S. Coughs..I hope its not overkill that I erased the names :)

Try uninstalling live mail....?

Thats the best I can come up with right now...
Umm.... Try using a third party app to view and create contancts such as Outlook, and just import the contacts from that folder. Might be more work than you want to do, but it should get them back up and working.

I need the Live Mail as it has 2 important functions.

1. It allows me to download from my hotmail account.

2. It allows me to save it elsewhere - ie you can copy the hotmail stuff into another storage place in Live Mail ...as opposed to other Mailing Clients, where all it usually lets you do is synchronise.

Which is why I am kinda opposed to uninstalling Live Mail and reinstalling it.

The actual contacts thing is not crucial - ie I don't really use it that much (which is why I have not opened it in 6months), but at the same time if it was to work I would fill in information.

I am not sure if I have conveyed what I mean properly..I guess what I am saying is if it was working I would use it. However, its not crucial enough for me to be installing 3rd party applications.

(I would like to use the inbuilt contacts manager - and not have to use third party ones, which is why I posted the problem here).

However, thanks for your suggestion!!! :)

Oh. Ok I see. Got it. :)

Well I dont see any solutions off the top of my head... My first thought is to reinstall/repair your Windows Live mail.
Other than that, i cant really think of anything. Sorry.

Apparently, i cant type either.... (I keep hitting wrong buttons!)
