wireless access point

I have a small home network, wired right now. I would like to add a wireless access point for near future laptops. Can I add a second router that is wireless to my wired network with having to load router software on a second computer. Is this even possible. My network consists of my PC, HP M8300f desktop PC as home base/client and cable modem with linksys wired router, BEFSR41 connected to a dell 2400 desktop. I am wanting to add a linksys wireless router WRT54G some where in the living room for and access point. Do I have to load the software on the Dell PC or can I just plug in router to wall socket and connect wirelessly that way. Thanks for the help. Just thinking out side the box.

If i am correct, router 1 should be 192.168.1.1,and router 2 is 192.168.1.2 and Disable the DHCP on router 2.

Thanks for the reply. How do I physically set this up? Any details or diagrams, links you can refer me to would be most helpfully. I found some help goggling but nothing for exactly what I want to do. Seems odd.

Type in the routers address into your browser then look for lan settings and you can change the ip address for the router and the dhcp should be in that area.

Thanks mansrm81 but I meant the physical connections them selfs. What wire to what port and so on. A diagram would be sweet. Once I get that figured out then configuring the second router is understood. Like I said I'm new to this networking stuff and I just want to add wireless capabilities to my wired network for the immediate future. After the first of the year is when the first laptop should be coming and a month or two later the second. I would like to have the wireless network part set up and ready when they do arrive. Just being prepared.

Dude, thanks. Just what I was looking for. As for the crudeness of your art work...gets an A+ in my book. Why couldn't some one have put that up on the linksys website. It would make life so much easier. Thanks again.

+1, I love looking at easy to understand diagrams instead of explanations with Big ole pc-lingo-tech words that just confuse you more.
