| Vista x64 + Windows 7 x64 (Ultimate) | Pop3 & SMTP issues... I am trying to help a friend who is more pc-challenged than I am set up his e-mail with Windows Mail but I don't know what the Pop3 or SMTP for those e-mail accounts are. He uses one email from att.net and another e-mail for live.com... does anybody knows this off the top of their head? I hate to call AT&T on this as it will be like a good half an hour for them to get to the phone and M$ would be another year. Thanks |

| Vista Home Premium 32 bit | Re: Pop3 & SMTP issues... You'll have to contact those ISP's for that information because each one is different. You could try live chat with them instead of emails and phone calls. I find that live chats work for me about 90% of the time. The last 10% is generally a phone call to resolve the issue. Most of the time it looks something like this: smtp-server.xx.xx.xx - is out going pop-server.xx.xx.xx - is incoming and the x's are generally what come after your email address. example; johndoe@isp.com. Where the isp.com are used instead of the x's. Most of the time when using windows mail it should auto detect the settings for you or any email program for that matter. Usually, that is some times you have to manually configure it. When you get this info print it or write it down some where for future reference's. |

| Vista Ultimate x64 | Re: Pop3 & SMTP issues... Since I used to work at AT&T...the latest SMTP/POP servers I know of. pop.att.yahoo.com - Port 995 w/SSL smtp.att.yahoo.com - Port 465 w/SSL You will need to make sure you type the full email address with @domain included, use all lowercase letters and change the ports and enable SSL on both pop & smtp servers. If you don't follow any of these steps, it won't work. |
