IE7 Freeze up All The Time

I am getting tired of having to restart IE7. What is going on with this freezing problem. It started about three or four weeks ago, and hasn't stopped. Seems everytime I access the internet the system freezes up (at least two or three times, each time).

I am now running it without any add-ons, and still have the same problem. Any suggestions? I am getting really annoyed.

Hi Barnum,

Have you run an extensive malware scan? If not, I suggest you do with an Antivirus and antispyware program. Have you tried a different browser and if so, does it happen with that as well?

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

Try Reset the Internet Explorer. go to Tools> internet options> advanced> reset.

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

What dinesh said. If you do that and it still crashes then you have something interfering with it (like airbot said, could be malware). Could also be your antivirus/firewall and if it isn't that then your best bet is to upgrade to IE8 which will do a clean install I believe.

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

Have run malware software, reset IE7, and still same problem.

I do not want to use Mozilla, Opera, etc., and while I am on that subject, how do I delete these programs? Loaded them to test website I was creating, but now when I try to uninstall them I get the message "System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation"...

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

ummm, it sounds like there is more going on with your system than you realize. I would first perform a heavy dose of malware scanning with your AV (do a full / thorough scan, not a quick scan), followed by Defender, followed by Malwarebytes.org - cause either you're infected or you have somehow made yourself a limited user for whatever reason...

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

My system runs fine OTHER THAN IE7. I have tried all of your suggestions, and have not added anyting to my program list to cause this sudden freezing problem. Will give up and deal with it on a daily basis I guess.

Re: IE7 Freeze up All The Time

I assume you have read this tutorial and all the related links inside it?
Also, you can try running SFC and checkdisk.
Internet Explorer - Reset

System Files - SFC Command
Check Disk - chkdsk
