Gmail and vista - Incompatiable???

I recently bought a system running Vista. My Gmail was running fine for a while, but here's the deal: If I have Gmail open in a tab, and it sits idle for awhile, the application appears to freeze. Not only does it freeze (blank screen when I activate the tab), but it "freezes" my whole IE7 (cannot access any other tabs, no tool bar functions, etc.) I have to abort my whole IE7 through task manager. I've started opening Gmail in a separate browser to avoid this, but I still freeze in that browser window and have to abort with Task manager. Anyone else having this problem? It only happens with Gmail, everything else works fine....thanks!

PS...I'm NOT using the 64-bit browser version on my system...

Im guessing the fault lies within IE7. Its not a very good browser... (no offense)

Try doing what you normally do, but try it with either Chrome or FireFox. Both are free, and very good alternatives to IE7. I have had WAY to many problems with IE (all versions) and permanently switched to FireFox, and have also enjoyed Chrome. Give one of those a try first.

I use Chrome exclusively, and I also use Gmail (and the Gmail Notifier). Both programs run flawlessly with Chrome (which makes sense, since Google made all three softwares).

It's not Vista's fault. If something goes wrong, there's a good chance that IE is to blame.

Yeah guess what? I just spent about and hour trying to download the 7 beta, and it took another half hour with tech support to figure out i can only download it from IE, and i also have to download a download manager. So after about 15 minutes of cursing Microsoft, I now can play with Windows 7.... GAH! This is why people like Apple instead... maybe one day i will make my own OS and show those ****** what a real OS can do.

Get Chrome, you'll never look back.

It installs itself in less than five minutes.

I agree its real nice, though i think Chrome lacks SOMETHING. I dunno what yet, but its why i like firefox better.
