| Vista Home Premium 32-bit | Transfering Windows Mail between Destop & Laptop Is there a quicker/cleaner way to move email between desktop & laptop and back using windows mail without exporting/importing/exporting/importing then dragging/dropping/deleting everytime I leave the country and come back..... In OE, I could go to the maintenance page and just cut/paste the file between my desktop and laptop and back to my desktop.... ![]() Thanks, Kiote |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | re: Transfering Windows Mail between Destop & Laptop Hello Kiote, and welcome to Vista Forums. Well, I suppose that you could forward the messages to a email account on the desktop. Another option is to do this below in Windows Mail on both the desktop and laptop to have a copy of your messages left on your email server so that you can read them from either the laptop or the computer.

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit | re: Transfering Windows Mail between Destop & Laptop Hi Brink, Thanks for the response. Unfortunetly, when I move emails to folders, I need them to be the same on desktop/laptop. And if I try to do that from the server copy on both with weeks between using one or the other, I can see "Murphy Law" in full effect and misplacing emails/files between laptop/desktop. But, even when I try to export/import, I'm winding up with several layers of embeded imported and local folders with my files scattered between them and some of the files are empty! The emails didn't make the trip in some of the files.... Don't suppose I can get rid of windows mail and get outlook express on Vista and save all my emails..... Kiote |

| Vista x64 Ultimate SP2, Windows 7 Ultimate x64 | re: Transfering Windows Mail between Destop & Laptop Kiote, Sure, you can install Outlook 2003 or newer on Vista to use instead. I have not imported/exported from Windows Mail to Outlook before, but this link may help with that if this is what you decide to do. You might see if you can set up a IMAP email account with your provider instead of a POP3 account, or use a online email service like Hotmail. This way everything is stored online and not on your two computers, so it will be the same no matter which computer you access the email account from. If you use hotmail, then you will want to use Windows Live Mail instead of Windows Mail since Windows Mail does not support Hotmail. |

| Vista Home Premium 32-bit | re: Transfering Windows Mail between Destop & Laptop Hi Brink, Thanks for the info. I'll look into it while I'm sitting in my hotel rooms the next four days. Never used Outlook, only OE before. I take it OE won't work on Vista, only Outlook? Coyote |
