Vista....Outlook Express?

Hi,
I just joined and hope I am posting correctly.
I recently got a new computer with Vista on it (naturally :sa:).
I have Windows Mail and don't like it any better than I like Vista. Is it possible to change to Outlook Express? I have OE on the other 2 computers in my home network.
Thanks.

Hello Patszy,

Welcome to the Forums.

Sorry but Windows Mail is the next iteration of Express and you can't install Express on Vista.

What is it you don't like about WM? Maybe there is a workaround.
Also you might check out Live Mail. Many (not myself) find it a better solution.

Just download and install the free Thunderbird. It runs great on XP and Vista 32 and Vista 64. Plus you can easily back up your extensions and mail with MozBackup.

It has the same basic setup as Express. Plus you can get lots of free extensions for it.

Hello, and thank you for your reply.

I just don't like the font and the size of the headers. I would like them a bit bigger and I read somewhere on this forum that it is impossible to change the size of the font in the preview pane....I think that is what it is called, or the headers. Is this right?

Pat

I do like that fact that it is quite a bit like OE otherwise.

Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I think I had better stick with what I have. It has been hard enough to get everything working, so I don't think I had better tackle anything else.

Up to you but Thunderbird install pretty much amounts to typing in your mail servers and ids. Plus many of the Firefox addons also work in Thunderbird. I went along with Pegasus email client for many years. I thought it sacrilege to put html in emails!! But things change with usage and people insist on saying "ain't" so I had to change with the times. A consideration is what you have to do if you change to a new PC. With many of the Mozilla programs you can back up your profiles and just load then after installing to a different computer. Like if you have an external drive it saves all that hassle. All your customizations addons and mail are just inserted.

But they call 'em "personal computers" for a reason. People use 'em how they want. :)

Thank you again, but I am having enough trouble as it is, so don't want to try another program.
