Vista - locked out of my gmail account

I am brand new on here and I like ask a question. I have been locked out of my gmail account for the 1st time ever and like to know can gmail lock you out??

I don't even know what I did and I need to get to my emails asap!!


Can anybody expalain this to me please.
I hope I didn't do anything that I am unaware of and if I did I want to fix this ASAP!!!

Had that happen to my wife with Yahoo mail.

it occurs when either your account is hacked, or you make numerous bad attempts to log-in.

Its best to use alpha/numeric password

To re-gain access you need to contact gmail and have them reset you password. Usually they do this through an alternate email, or security questions

I thank you for any help. I havwe been loocked out of my gmail account for some reason. I am new to all this techy stuff but learning everyday.

This sucks when you have business to take care of. How long does it take to get your account back.

I never had a gmail account problem before. Will I get my account back and how long does it take to get back normal this sucks!!!

It depends on reason you were locked out (hacked/forgotten password, etc.), and what verifying info google requires to allow you access. Sooner you contact them the better.

my wife's account I think was hacked (her password no longer worked), and they required a security question/Answer from like 10 years ago. She didnt remember the answer. It took here multiple emails to support and calls to convince them it was hers. She lost access for almost a month.
