Brink thank you for your response, The windows mail programme I believe is no longer supported by Microsoft (according to comments read on a Forum) It does not have an English English spell checker and I want to revert to a mail programme that has that facility. Outlook Mail I believe has an English English Spell Checker and that would be fine. What would I need to do to load Outlook on Vista Home Premium? I would not wish to lose all my mail contacts that are on Windows Mail.
Thanks Znord737

Your forum has it Back-to-front I'm afraid, OE is the one that's being replaced. OE no longer supports microsoft's Hotmail service. There is an English (4 on my machine actually) spellchecker that comes with windows mail, Eng US, Eng UK, Eng AU and Eng CA. this page tells you how to add the english UK dictionary to Windows LIVE mail Manually - it should work with windows mail also.

Windows Live Mail is the way to go though - an easy download an installation from the M$ team. It may be advisable to install that instead.

Znord,

I would recommend to install Windows Live Mail as well.

Mail - Windows Live

It supports Pop3, IMAP, HTTP website (EX: Hotmail) email, and is a lot more stable. Plus, WLM will minimize to a tray bar icon, checks spelling as you type messages, and has a separate Inbox for each email account. WLM will automatically import Windows Mail messages, accounts, and settings into it. Contacts will have to be manually imported from within WLM. (Tools, Contacts, File, Import, Address book for current Windows User.) To see the Menu bar, press ALT+M and check "Show all menus".

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Brink Thank you for your inputs. I tried the recommendations, please see below :-
When I open
%ProgramFiles%\Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2\
There are three files contained therin:-
mssp3en.Lex
mssp3pell.dll
Spell configuration settings text file
[Spellchecker]
Engine=MSSPELL3.DLL
Lex=MSSP3EN.LEX
Lang=1033

Cannot locate file %localappdata%\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Proof\prf0809\1

So was unable to complete method 1

Completed method 2 downloaded the vbs file and ran same

When I went into windows mail, tools, options,spelling,
The list of languages is still the same
English American
French
Spanish
German

No sign of the English U.K.

Maybe this process only works on Windows Live Mail !
The Programme I have is just Windows Mail ?

Any suggestions very much appreciated
