I converted from Outlook Express to Windows Mail a few months ago when I got a new desktop. Yesterday, I tried to send a message to a group. I've used it often in the past. Here's the error message I got:
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the "I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider. The rejected e-mail address was '[username]@clear.net.nz'. Subject 'test', Account: '[Account name]', Server: 'smtp.clear.net.nz', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '550 5.2.1 User unknown: [username]@clear.net.nz', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.
I've tried the "my server requires authentication", but it still does not send. Any answers?
