Using "Free SMTP Server" from SoftStack

Hello,

I've installed "Free SMTP Server" from SoftStack but cannot yet send email via it.

I have Vista on my laptop (IP address: 192.168.0.2), am using Windows Mail and connect to a Netgear wireless router (IP address: 192.168.0.1). My ISP is Sky Broadband.

Previously I could send/receive emails OK using POP3: pop.tools.sky.com (port 995 with SSL on) and SMTP: smtp.tools.sky.com (port 465 with SSL on).

As per the "Free SMTP Server" instructions I have renamed the SMTP server under Accounts in Windows Mail to "Localhost" and changed the port from the default of 25 to 465 as this is what Sky Broadband ISP recommends/prefers.

The Active Connections pane in "Free SMTP Server" is blank; nothing ever appears (should it?) and the status bar at the bottom continually says:
"Waiting for connections on port #465; using DNS server: 192.168.0.1".

I can receive email OK but not send it.

I've emailed SoftStack but not yet had a response.

Has anyone had a similar experience ... or got "Free SMTP Server" to work OK?

Many thanks,
Andy
