Vista - Can't send window mail

Please Help! I can receive but cannot send email from windows mail. Here is my error: the "error" says nothing. The "task" just says 'send one message using 'mail.comcast.net... Status: failed. And that's it. The box to enter my password pops up as well. I have tried all of the trobleshooting under windows help, checked my servers and password, and called comcast. My email will work fine from comcastnet, just not through my windows mail, so comcast had me call microsoft. There is charge, which i am trying to avoid - any advice out there? Thx!!!

Have you tried to turn off email scanning in your antivirus software?

Thank you, thank you! As it turns out, it was not my antivirus program that was stopping me, but here goes: when I received your email, i went and did it. Well, it did the same thing and asked me to sign in again! And again I went into my accts, to server, to put in username and password...and it occurred to me that days ago, when this first started, I had been on the phone with comcast customer service for like 45 mins before they said they just couldn't help me and that I needed to call microsoft. Well, that day they had had me change my password on comcast.net! While I was still on the phone with them, we kept going back to my windowsmail after logging into comcast.net, and still couldn't get on. This has all been because I was using my new password that we created on comcast.net on my windows mail! If it was not for your suggestion, I would not have tried again for quite some time because i have been really frustrated! W!hen I tried it, my sign in page didnt look right, sooo - crafty computer genius that I am - tried my "old" password, and: Voila! I'm in! Thank you, JMH
