IE8 import from other browser not working

    IE8 import from other browser not working

    I'm trying to import bookmarks (favorites) from Firefox into IE8. The option to import from another browser is grayed out, and when I try to import from a file, I only get the last few bookmarks. What gives?

    So from IE you click on FILE -> IMPORT AND EXPORT, and your options are greyed at this point?

    Meanwhile, you can also EXPORT FF bookmarks as an HTML, and IMPORT the HTML from IE.

    Only the "import from other browser" is grayed out. The import from file did not read the HTML file exported from Firefox correctly. I only got the last few unsorted bookmarks, not my whole folder structure of Firefox bookmarks.

    You are EXPORTING from FF, not importing. You would want to export your html. Do this not work?

    Alternately, you can use IE to import directly from FF.

    Are BOTH of these options not working and, if so, what are you seeing?

    As I said, I've exported from Firefox. IE8 can't import successfully from that file. The "import from other browser" option in IE8 is grayed out, like it doesn't know I have another browser.

    Is your second browser installed on a different partition?

    Whats the Firefox bookmark structure like? are there folders in folders in folders? Do you have a bookmark manager like xmarks on firefox?
