Internet Explorer can't display the webpage

I'm new to Vista. I have just connected my new laptop with Vista to my home network (XP). No dramas.

But when browsing the internet (IE7), certain websites won't load (eg Apple, Ninemsn, Microsoft). Eventually it displays "Internet Explorer can't display the webpage". When you diagnose connection problems - it finds no problem.

I have tried turning off firewalls (Vista), uninstalling my AV (NOD32), disabling Vista's autotuning (which booted my brothers computer off the network, but did nothing to mine).

I have tried to browse through Morzilla Firefox (but i can't load the website to download it!) and have tried disabling ADD ONs in IE. None of these change anything!

Anymore suggestions?

Could be a problem with name resolution.

If pinging msn doesn't work, please try:

ping 65.55.17.27

If you can load msn.com from your XP but not from your Vista notebook, we may have to check the dns on Vista. If you can't load from either, their it might be a temporary problem with your ISP and their DNS.

i had this problem at one point but it seems to have fixed it self. i get my full internet connection at full speed so just give it some time it may need time to adjust and to configure with your modem and router.by the way is your router and modem Ethernet or usb? remember update your drivers if its usb

I ended up paying a smart person to come and check my network. They found that the problems was due to the Router Data Speed Setting and it is now fixed.
