Vista & Zone Alarm Extreme Security

After lots of broadband / modem problems I have had my internet running smoothly for the past couple of weeks (at 10 mbps). Then a couple of days ago I had an automatic download of updates from Microsoft & it seems to be causing all sorts of problems with ZA Extreme Security.

First of all the Security System is deactivated - so I set it going again. Then I get a message "The True Vector Internet Monitor has shut down". I restart it, but the message repeats every time I access a web page.

The automatic virus scanning stopped, so I set it going, only for it to fail after 20 seconds or so.

The speed of the internet has dropped to below 1 mbps.

However, if I delete ZA Extreme Security I get my excellent service again.

Now this is obviously fairly risky, so can anyone shed any light on why Zone Alarm is behaving as it does, and are my suspicions about the Microsoft updates correct.

After all, there was a similar problem (last year), so these products have form.

For some reason which I cannot understand I am unable to gain access to the Zone Alarm forum.

Help greatly appreciated.

Cheers
