Can't send page or link by e-mail

Fix It Later

New Member
Using Internet Explorer 8 when I try to send a page by e-mail (File/Send/Page by E-mail) the 'Page by E-mail' and 'Link by E-mail' is greyed out.

I went to the Default Programs in Control Panel and set my Windows Mail associations and also did so with IE. Afterwards they both said "This program has all its defaults". I rebooted and still have the same problem.

I'm running Vista Home Premium 64bit.

Can anyone help?

Is this what we are talking about. If yes, works perfectly well here. Must be a settings problem.

I've never tried it by going to the "Page" button. But I tried that after looking at your screen shot. It's also greyed out there.

If it's a settings problem does anyone know what setting?

Select "Send Pictures from the Internet"

To select "Send Pictures from the Internet," follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Mail Format tab.
  2. Click to select HTML in the "Send in this message format" list, and then click OK.
  3. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, on the View menu, click Internet Options.

Note For Internet Explorer 5.x versions, click the Tools menu, and then click Internet Options.
  4. Click the Programs tab, verify that Microsoft Outlook appears in the Mail box, and click OK.
  5. Browsing the Web page that you want to send, on the File menu, point to Send, and then click Page By Email. In a moment, a mail message that contains the page appears.

Note These procedures work only if you are browsing the Web page. If you open a page from your hard drive, you can send it only as an attachment.
  6. In your open message, on the Format menu, click Send Pictures from the Internet. This enables the page to be viewed without being connected to the Internet.
  7. Address the message, and then click Send

Still having the problem.

As for lines 1 & 2 in your reply I'm not sure if you're refering to IE or Windows Mail. But in either program I can't find a Mail Format tab.

As for lines 3 & 4 I did go to Internet Options and made sure that Windows Mail was my default e-mail program.

Now, you said to makes sure Microsoft Outlook appears in the "mailbox". I assume that to mean the Microsoft Outlook was my default e-mail program since I could not find a "mailbox". Does it have to be Microsoft Outlook?
