problem with Windows Mail

Hi,

Our email server changed to Google Apps. Our ISP helped me set up the new account; I can now download but not send mail. The Internet provider tech told us it was most likely a software issue and that Windows Mail could be corrupt.

Does that sound right? We checked all the settings numerous times and he said he could both receive AND send e-mail on his end.

We have Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

Carol Hi and welcome

There are many possibilities. Are you using the windows firewall? what antivirus are you using? In the outgoing account are you using "POP", "smtp". etc. If you could use the built in snipping tool (type snipping in search) to make a screen shot and upload it to us using the paperclip icon in the reply form it would help. We need the outgoing server setup.

Thanks

Hi Ken,

Thanks for replying! We are using Avira antivirus. The tech guy at the ISP said it could be a problem with antivirus, but we never had the problem until yesterday when they switched to Google apps. I disabled the antivirus and it did not make a difference. I don't know if we are using windows firewall.

Can't get the snipping tool to C&P but here is the outgoing server setup:

incoming mail server is POP3
incoming mail is pop.gmail.com
outgoing mail is smtp.gmail.com
email username [email protected]

server port numbers:
outgoing mail: 587
Incoming mail: 995
and ISP guy told me to check boxes this server requires secure connection

is this all you need?

Thanks again,
Carol
