I cannot send email. This just started today. When I attempted to send a couple of pictures to a friend I got the error message below. I tried several times with the same results. I have RoadRunner with Time Warner and I called them as they are my ISP. We checked and rechecked the email setup and everything is correct. I called Dell as I have a Dell XPS 420 with Vista Operating system. Waited an hour on hold and finally gave up and started research myself to no avail. Perhaps someone may have an answer for me. Thanks for replying to my problem. I'm using Window Mail not Outlook Express. I did as you suggested and checked "This server requires a secure connection" for both boxes for Outgoing (SMTP) and Incoming (POP3). I then tried again to send the message. It did not work. I got the following error.

"Subject 'Two pictures of Your Mum and I', Account: 'pop-server.satx.rr.com', Server: 'smtp-server.satx.rr.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D.

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop-server.satx.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.satx.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E."

So now I have a different problem. Before doing as you suggested I clicked on the Server tab and checked the box "My Server requires authentication." Maybe that was the wrong thing to do. Thanks a gain for your help.

Problem solved. It had to do with my contact list where some email addresses had "<" and ">" sigins at the beginning and end of the address. When clicked on Window Mail also put in those signs therby have two consequtive signs caused the server to not send the email and sent me an error message. Anyway, I've corrected my contact list and can now send and receive emal.Thank again for helping.
