Help!! cannot use Adobe Flash player with Vista

I have read a lot of forums on here and on other sites (Adobe for one). I have yet to see a resolution. PLEASE HELP! MY IE is closing down too much to bear any more.

I have a Vista 64 bit OS, and I use IE 7 (using the 32bit IE) and I can't use IE without it closing and restarting all the time. From experimenting and reading lots of forums, it is obvious that Adobe Flash Player and Vista just don't work together. It is Vista because I have friends that use other OS and IE 7 and they are not having the problems I have. Whats happening is ... when I am using IE, flash works but all of sudden my IE will close and restart. So clearly using the Flash player as the issue.
And yes, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe a few times now.

I have also disabled the adobe flash add-on but most sites now a days want you to have that, so you need it. (and forget playing games on FB, like Farmville or Yoville or Cafe World, it will close down on you).

I've seen forums where (a supposed "google employee") stated that if you download some link from some Japaneese site that will solve the problem. But with today's virus's and malware who would do that?

I've also read that this whole problem has to do with a sound card, or some registration key, or start up items (ie wireless assistant).

There are so many things out there. I just need the bottom line... from Vista please! and my question is... Is there a way to use flash player on your 64 bit system? If not, are we supposed to just wait until Adobe comes out with a compatible version? Or is there a work around?

I've heard that this happens in all internet applications (Firefox, google chrome). So
its not and IE problem. It seems to be clear that this is a Vista 64 bit
OS and Adobe Flash Player issue. PLEASE help! I need flash!

    Thank you!

open internet explorer, visit Adobe - Install Adobe Flash Player

download the file to your hard disk then right click on it and RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR.

just did it and now when I open firefox the flash works

edit... just checked the date although I guess others may search for and find this thread

Try the flash uninstaller to make sure that it is completely removed: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows

Make sure that your anti-virus is disabled.

Also, make sure you're downloading the 64 bit version of AFP.

I know at one time that it wouldn't install on Vista 64-bit. I don't know if they've since release a version that can be installed. Adobe suddenly DROPS Vista64 support?

You should be using IE9 not IE7. I assume this is Vista SP2? Flash only works in 32-bit IE anyway so make that your default.

I have adobe flash player 11,1,102,62 loaded on my Vista 64 bit system. I used the 64 bit version.

    I'm using IE 8.

Ah, according to the Adobe download page:

Flash Player does not support 64-bit versions of Windows XP and Vista. Flash Player 11 now includes support for Windows 7 64-bit.
But according to my 64-bit IE Flash is working OK whilst Shockwave isn't...weird.

This thread is dated 12-20-2009, so IE7 was probably the most recent version of IE at that point
