Receiving emails, but they are not showing

I am having problems with my Inbox. When I log onto my email it shows I am receiving messages, but nothing appears. I can not find my old emails either, but in the "sent box" and the "documents folder" I can see emails that I have saved. Is there any way to recover the old emails?

They could have changed and are dumping all of your emails somewhere.

I don't think that I do. I did call a computer support and they told me that they thought I had a corrupt inbox and to follow the steps online to get it back...but the steps do not follow my computer so I am stuck. I can go the long route via C:/Users/Family/AppData/local/Microsoft/Windows mail/local folders/inbox and I can view my new emails, but the old ones are not there. I'm not sure what to do.
