I am using bellsouth email on Windows Mail. I am connected to Comcast as my ISP, and I cant seem to send any emails. I can receive emails just fine.

I can only send when I reconnect to bellsouth.

Whats wrong? Ive tried changing the outgoing mail port to 587 with no luck =/

Comcast is blocking the sending of the Bellsouth mail. When I had windows 98, I was able to send via any service. With the bloosiming of spam, I received the notice that this convenience would be stopped. I was able to send through my ISP, with any return address that I wanted, but it had to go through my ISP.

Not being familiar with Comcast, your situation may differ, but there more than an even chance that this is the situation.

Take care.

Thank-you, is there anyway around this? I want to cancel bellsouth high speed and dont want to be forced to connect to dial up everytime I want to send an email

The only way you can get a definitive answer is if someone comes by that uses the same ISP as you. There really is not much that can be done with Vista. If you call your ISP, they may be able to give you the settings to use, so that you can send the mail in the way that you want.

Alternatively, you may be able to visit their website and get the information. It would be in the same section that gives you the information about the port numbers and other settings.

If you are willing to use the Comcast service you of course could go to their website and get the necessary settings. Just about every ISP has email service.
