Default "From" email address not changing while replying to emails received on others

    Hello,

I have several email accounts configured on my windows mail on my Vista home premium and one of them is configured as the default email.

When I reply to emails received on email accounts other than the default email the "from" email address does not change to the email address of the received account.

I understand that the email address in the "from' field when I start a "new" message or create mail is that of the configured default email. My question is while replying to an email received in other configured accounts should not the "from" field email id change from the default email id to the email address of the email to which is replied.

hope I have been able to convey my problem.

Advice is seeked to the above problem.

    Thanks & Best regards,

    George Kottackakathu Thomas

Re: Default "From" email address not changing while replying to emails received on ot

    Welcome,

I cannot definitively answer yes, or no. I can tell you how it works on my computer. Unless, I manually change the email account, the default is always used. It is easy to make the change, you merely use the drop down menu located at the upper right.

The from is your address. Think about it, if I send you and email (from GMX,.com), how could the from say GMX, you do not even have or even know about GMX.

    Dear Richc46,

    Thank you for the reply.

I think I have confused my question myself.

say I have 6 email accounts configured

    *** REMOVED ***

I receive mails from unknowns on all these accounts.

But when I reply to an unknown email I received on *** REMOVED *** the "from" address in the "from" field of the reply window is still the default email address - ***REMOVED *** the "from" address in my reply window dosen't change to the email address *** REMOVED *** on which I received the email, I have to select it from the drop down list.

In outlook express I believe this was automatically taken cared of.

hope I have been able to explain my problem

    Thanks & Best regards,

    George Kottackakathu

    Dear richc46,

    Thank you for the reply.

I think I confused my question

Let me put it like this i have 6 emails below configured in my windows mail.

    asdf at apple,.com
    qwert at orange,.com
xyz at apple,.com (configured as the default email in windows mail)
    jkl at grapes,.com
    qwerty at red,.com
    vbn at green,.com

I receive emails on all these accounts (email)

now when I receive an email on qwerty at red,.com and when I reply to it, in the reply window in the " from " field the email id is that of the default email configured - xyz at apple,.com

to give a reply to the email received on qwerty at red,.com from qwerty at red,.com i have to select it from the drop down list otherwise the reply, with no regrets, goes from the default email ID - xyz at apple,.com

In outlook express I believe this was taken care of automatically

Hope I am able to convey my question better.

    THANKS & BEST REGARDS

    I am back

We did have a communication problem at first, but my answer is the same. On my WLM, I send you an email from my abc account. You answer, when I reply the return address will be my xyz account (default) unless I change it.

I do not know of any workarounds. Possibly another Forum Member with the same concerns, as you, will have a better answer. Hopefully, I have been able to offer you some help, by answering your first post.
